Check local weather, river level warnings, typhoon forecasts, and road closure notices before leaving. Mountain campsites can be much colder than nearby cities even in spring and autumn.
Coastal and riverside campsites require extra attention during heavy rain and typhoon season. Do not pitch tents in dry riverbeds or low areas if rain is forecast upstream.
Many northern or high-altitude campsites close in winter. A map marker can remain online even when the facility is closed for the season.
